Like many, many people, I grew up with Winnie the Pooh books and shows. The adorable anthropomorphic bear and his various friends fascinated my young mind and I dreamed of spending time with Christopher Robin and hanging out in Ashdown Forest.
I have many fond memories of those first, early books and later, the Disney features. So it was with a bit of trepidation when I read that a new Winnie the Pooh was set to arrive in 2011. Could, nay, should this timeless classic really be done with modern technology?
Thankfully Disney opted to animate the movie traditionally, in 2D, and we can avoid our childhood’s being ruined by a 3D telling of Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore. So far the artwork looks great, and from what you can see in the international-version movie poster, this one will be worth the watch!
Jim Cummings is doing the voice of Pooh and Tigger, while Craig Ferguson is doing Owl and John Cleese narrates. Look for Winnie the Pooh in theaters July 15.
