I’ve said it before, but the Saw series has always had fun and interesting marketing pieces. The movie posters are often very creative, and the latest Saw 3D motion poster is no different. We’ve also got new posters for Monsters and Due Date – both of which look to be A-W-E-S-O-M-E movies – so hit the jump to check those out as well.
I know some people are skeptical about Due Date. The upcoming comedy stars Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis and it basically looks like The Odd Couple meets Planes, Trains and Automobiles. But if you’re doubting how well this film will do, look at the impressive opening The Other Guys did last weekend and then substitute in funnier guys.
Yeah – I said it. I think Galifiankis is funnier than Ferrell any day and there is no arguing Downey Jr.’s comedic abilities. He’s been brilliant in the two Iron Man movies, and the subtle humor through Sherlock Holmes was pulled off brilliantly.
Last, but certainly not least is the first movie poster for Monsters. This movie is from director Gareth Edwards and was reportedly made for significantly less than $1 million. It’s being marketed in a somewhat similar vein as District 9, but rumor has it the movie itself is not very close to being a D9 twin.
If you haven’t seen the trailer yet for the film, go check it out. There are some elements from both District 9 and Cloverfield, in my opinion. It also reminds me of the trailer for J.J. Abrams Super 8, but to be fair, that one is still in development. They’re all monster-genre films and this low-budget film from the relatively unknown Edwards looks to be a doozy.
