Amanda Seyfried Claims I’m.mortal

The adorable and talented Amanda Seyfried is set to star in the upcoming sci-fi flick I’m.mortal, Variety reports. The movie is about a future in which “time” is a form of currency. The wealthy stay young and immortal and the rest of us peons struggle to live. In this society, aging stops at 25 – so theoretically society is filled with people at the peak of their lives??

As Variety reports, “When a rebel from the ghetto is falsely accused of murdering a wealthy man for his time, he is forced to go on the run with beautiful hostage (Seyfried). Together, this duo rages against the system, living minute to minute. They discover that love is more powerful than all the time in the world.”

This might be good, but I’m perhaps a little skeptical about Seyfried in a sci-fi film. She really gained exposure in HBO’s polygamy series called Big Love, and has had major roles in two films this year (Dear John, Letters to Juliet) but none of that is very sci-fi-esque. She did appear alongside Megan Fox in Jennifer’s Body, so there’s a little something different, but I remain undecided about this particular casting choice. Thus far there is no word on the male lead. Expect someone in their 20s though!

Eric Newman and Marc Abraham are producing (Children of Men, Dawn of the Dead) and Andrew Niccol (Lord of War, Gattaca) is set to direct, so there are definitely some solid players involved. We’ll keep you posted as more details emerge.
